We have a brilliant weekend of jiu jitsu coming up in November with experienced competitors, Polaris veterans and black belt instructors Samantha Cook and Bradley Hill!
Bradley Hill is a Braulio Estima black belt known for his innovative guard styles and Omoplata finishes. He is a multiple time World medalist, 2x European Champion and 4x British National Champion.
Samantha Cook, a Checkmat black belt under professor Marco Canha, is also a multiple time World Medalist, 5x European Champion, 2x Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Champion and ADCC Vet. Sam is known for her open guard game and footlock submissions.
Sam and Bradley will be up in Glasgow for two separate sessions, a charity seminar on Friday 5th of November 18:00-20:00 and a Wominar – women only seminar on Saturday 6th of November 13:00-16:00.
The Friday night seminar will be a Gi seminar looking at Galaxy guard. This seminar is open to all levels and all affiliations. We recommend a £5+ donation with all funds going towards Movember, raising funds for prostate and testicular cancer and male suicide charities. Fake taches will be provided for group photos if required. Please bring £5 or more in cash on the day so we avoid online fees and all funds go to the charity!
***The friday night charity seminar is now FULLY BOOKED. To be added to a waiting list please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll let you know if anyone cancels. The Wominar is still OPEN FOR BOOKINGS at the link below***
Please note by booking or asking to be added to the waiting list you also agree to our Covid guidance copied below.
The next day we will have the 12th edition of Samantha’s women only seminar: Wominar 12. Sam has been running Wominars and creating spaces for women to train and learn together since 2015 and we are super lucky to have her up in Scotland for Wominar 12 on Saturday 6th 13:00-16:00. The Wominar is for women only (trans inclusive) to give women in jiu jitsu a chance to train with each other and with a world class female black belt, this is also open to women of all levels and affiliations and can be booked on Eventbrite here.
*RONIN COVID GUIDANCE* Please keep in mind that in Scotland masks are still required when getting into and out of the building, we share the entrance and stairwell with bank staff and solicitors and we try and be strict about this. As numbers are fairly high in Scotland we ask that everyone is careful and please do a lateral flow test prior to coming along. Whilst we hope most of us have been vaccinated, there is still a risk to folk who’ve not had both doses yet or are immunocompromised. Lateral flow tests can be ordered for free online or accessed at most pharmacies. If you develop symptoms or feel unwell please stay home.
We would like to specify at Ronin Grappling we have extra measures in the case of HOUSEHOLD contacts. If someone in your HOUSEHOLD tests positive the government advises isolation is not required if you are double vaccinated and with a negative PCR. However as a contact sport we are already at higher risk and the government advice is accompanied by the recommendation to continue social distancing. If you are a HOUSEHOLD contact – and as such you are under ONGOING exposure please let us know and don’t come along, there will be other seminars in future!
