This April, third degree black belt & Defensive BJJ founder Priit Mihkelson will be bringing his expert knowledge to Glasgow for three days of teaching with a focus on sideways open guard and late armbar escapes (without jokes this time to maximise learning).
Dubbed ‘more divisive than Gordon Ryan’ on reddit, Priit has spent over 20 years extensively studying and training BJJ, has become established as the expert on defensive jiu jitsu, and has developed a cult following well beyond his native Estonia. A regular instructor at BJJ Globetrotters camps worldwide, Priit splits his time between running Estum – his own team based in Tallinn – and travelling for seminars and camps.
The camp will take place at our academy in Rutherglen in the Greater Glasgow area (G73 2HZ) between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd of April. Friday evening will feature a rolling and troubleshooting session between 18:30 and 20:30, with Saturday (sideways open guard) and Sunday (late armbar defences) featuring 2x taught sessions each, at 10:00-12:30 and 13:30-16:00, with time for further Q&A and rolling at the end of each day.
Priit’s concepts can overall be applied universally to gi and nogi, however as some techniques and drills will be gi based please bring a gi!
The full camp with all five sessions is open to all and will cost £99 for Ronin Grappling members and affiliates with the code provided in the group chat or on request and £110 for non-members. Single day tickets for Saturday and Sunday will be available at £65 per day. Priit’s schedule is fully booked well into late 2023, so don’t miss your only chance to learn from him right here in Scotland and book now to secure a space!
The infrared sauna at the gym will also be switched on and ready to use by 16:00 on Saturday and Sunday and will be open to camp participants. If planning on using the sauna please bring a bathing suit, towel, flip flops and a change of clothes and make sure to shower before using the sauna.
As a contact sport we also ask both members and visitors to try do regular lateral flow tests to be on the safe side – we have students who are immunocompromised, or who are carers, and so we are taking care to minimise risks where reasonable though we appreciate they are getting hard to come by so if possible please test before coming along. If you have any symptoms please stay home and we’ll refund the seminar.
