Description
June will see one of the modern day master instructors of jiu jitsu travelling to Scotland for a full weekend of training as Jon Thomas comes to Glasgow for a two day open guard masterclass.
Having won Gi Worlds at purple and brown belt before being promoted to black belt by Lucas Lepri and Romero Cavalcanti, Jon is now better known for his innate ability to simplify complex concepts and concisely share his knowledge with a large and diverse audience.
Taking place at our academy in Rutherglen in the Greater Glasgow area (G73 2HZ), the *gi* camp will run between Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of June, with each day featuring 2x taught sessions plus time for Q&A and rolling at the end of the day. The taught sessions will run at 10:30-12:30 and 14:00-16:00.
During the Saturday sessions Jon will deep dive into double sleeve guard variations, while in the Sunday sessions he will build upon day one with a focus on collar and sleeve instead. Each person booked into the seminar will receive a complementary roll of finger tape.
The full camp is open to all levels and affiliations, full camp tickets are £110 with single day tickets £65. Ronin Grappling members & affiliates please use the code provided in the group chat for 10% off the *full camp* ticket!
The infrared sauna at the gym will also be switched on and ready to use by 16:00 on Saturday and Sunday and will be open to seminar participants. If planning on using the sauna please bring a bathing suit, towel, flip flops and a change of clothes and make sure to shower before using the sauna.
As a contact sport we also ask both members and visitors to try do regular lateral flow tests to be on the safe side – we have students who are immunocompromised, or who are carers, and so we are taking care to minimise risks where reasonable though we appreciate they are getting hard to come by so if possible please test before coming along. If you have any symptoms please stay home and we’ll refund the camp.
