Our next camp instructor needs little introduction as the European king of berimbolos and back takes himself, Espen Mathiesen, is coming to Glasgow for a full weekend of *gi* training.
A trailblazer of Scandinavian Jiu Jitsu, Espen has put Norway on the map with his unique style, entertaining matches, and significant and decisive wins at adult black belt on the international competition circuit including at both Europeans and Abu Dhabi World Pro.
The Polaris and Copa Podio veteran will be in Scotland for a two day Gi camp taking place at our academy in Rutherglen in the Greater Glasgow area (G73 2HZ) between Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of February with each day featuring 2x taught sessions with time for Q&A and rolling at the end of each day. The taught sessions will run at 10:00-12:00 and 13:30-15:30.
During the two Saturday sessions Espen will deep dive into berimbolos while in the Sunday sessions he will explore his unique style of passing, with a focus on passing DLR, RDLR and back takes from passing. With Espen’s competitive career due to continue on its meteoric rise this is a unique opportunity to learn from this world class athlete.
The full camp is open to all levels and affiliations, full camp tickets are £110 with single day tickets £65. Ronin Grappling members & affiliates please use the code provided in the group chat for 10% off the *full camp* ticket!
The infrared sauna at the gym will also be switched on and ready to use by 15:30 on Saturday and Sunday and will be open to seminar participants. If planning on using the sauna please bring a bathing suit, towel, flip flops and a change of clothes and make sure to shower before using the sauna.
As a contact sport we also ask both members and visitors to try do regular lateral flow tests to be on the safe side – we have students who are immunocompromised, or who are carers, and so we are taking care to minimise risks where reasonable though we appreciate they are getting hard to come by so if possible please test before coming along. If you have any symptoms please stay home and we’ll refund the camp.
